Performance is de rode draad in dit multidisciplinaire artistieke onderzoek, binnen en buiten het lichaam, de tijd en de ruimte. De artiesten communiceren met name via bewegingen, gebaren en gevoelens en in dialoog en interactie met het publiek. Het werk kan soms provocatief zijn. 

‘Time we spend together’ is een collectieve actie in de unieke architectuur van De Thomas, opgevoerd door Performance Club. Dit is een collectief opgericht door zeven kunstenaars van de Rijksakademie. Elke performer neemt deel aan een dialoog met de andere uitvoeringen: hoe kunnen ze met elkaar wel of juist niet het gesprek aangaan? ‘Time we spend together’ bestaat ui een grote variëteit van performances, waaronder poppenspel, rituelen, politieke actie, live beelden, gesprekken een uitgestorven dinosaurus en meer. 

Performance Club is een informeel netwerk en collectief, opgericht in 2022 door een groep kunstenaars van de Rijksakademie. 

Op dit moment zijn de leden: Moe Satt (1983; Yangon, Myanmar); Daniel Vorthuys (1990; Voorburg, Netherlands); Reyhan Lal (1993; Tehran, Iran); Karel van Laere (1988; The Hague, Netherlands); Martin Toloku (1992; Adidome, Ghana); Natalia Papaeva, (1989; Buryatia, Russia); and Ohad Ben Shimon (1978; FR/IL/AT).

‘Performance is the thread that interweaves their multidisciplinary artistic research within and without the body, time, and space. Artists in Performance Club communicate mostly through body movements, gestures, and immediate feelings in a given moment of time, dialogue and interaction with audience. Their work can sometimes be provocative.’

‘Time we spend together’ is a collective action held in the unique architecture of De Thomas (Thomaskerk) in Amsterdam. Performed by artists of Performance Club, a collective founded by seven artists at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, in 2022. Each of the performers enters into dialogue with each other’s performances and considers how the performances interact, overlap, or occasionally don’t interact or overlap. ‘Time we spend together’ features a wide and diverse range of performance acts initiated and investigated by the performance artists of Performance Club including puppeteering, ritual, political action, live foot-age, conversations, an extinct dinosaur and more.

Performance Club is an informal orbit and collective founded in 2022 by a group of artists who met during their residency at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam.
