after the siren, before the bell vindt plaats op de eerste maandag van de maand, beginnend na het luiden van het luchtalarm om 12:01:27 en eindigend om 12:59:59 als het luiden van de grote stadsklokken begint. In dit stukje tijd opent de geluidsinstallatie en performance een akoestische draaikolk, die luisteraars, stemmen, spraak en omgevingsgeluiden naar binnen lokt. Deze versie bevat tekst en geluidsopnames die zijn geschreven en uitgevoerd door Becket MWN en die poorten openen tussen de Crystal Cathedral (Garden Grove, Los Angeles, VS) en de Thomaskerk (Amsterdam, NL).

Door omstandigheden is deze performance van de eerste maandag van de maand verplaatst naar vrijdag 24 mei. Er wordt een lichte lunch aangeboden. Gratis aanmelden voor deze performance via de knop hierboven.

after the siren, before the bell wordt uitgevoerd door Becket MWN en is gemaakt door David Rueter and Marissa Lee Benedict. Dit project wordt ondersteund door het Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst (AFK) en is ontwikkeld in samenwerking met projectruimte When Site Lost the Plot (Amsterdam, NL).

after the siren, before the bell takes place the first Monday of the month, beginning after the blare of the public test sirens ends at 12:01:27, and ending at 12:59:59 when the ringing of large city church bells commence. In this sliver of time, the sound installation and performance opens an acoustic whirlpool, luring in listeners, voices, speech, and ambient sounds. This iteration of the work will feature text and sound recordings scripted and performed by Becket MWN that open portals between the Crystal Cathedral (Garden Grove, Los Angeles, US) and de Thomaskerk (Amsterdam, NL).

Due to unforeseen circumstancese, this performance scheduled for the first Monday of the month has been rescheduled to May 24th. A light lunch will be served. Free tickets are available through the button above.
