Kunstenares Mariah Blue onderzoekt thema’s die raken aan technologie in de breedste zin: van pottenbakken in de steentijd tot kunstmatige intelligentie. Haar nieuwe interactieve geluidsinstallatie en kunstwerk NEON SONGS heeft de vorm van een experimenteel communicatienetwerk. Het kunstwerk is geïnspireerd op de constante aanwezigheid van schermen en de onzichtbare netwerken en infrastructuren die ervoor zorgen dat we altijd en overal bereikbaar zijn. NEON SONGS wil die fysieke relatie met onze technologie zichtbaar maken en aanzetten tot verbinding met elkaar door middel van spel.

Live performances
Op 8 en 9 december wordt de installatie geactiveerd tijdens speciale live performances in samenwerking met kunstenaars Angelo Custódio, Amit Palgi, Maria Isolina Cozzani, Matteo Traverso en Jonny Mehrez. Na de performance is er een borrel met de kunstenaar en de performers. Beide performances starten om 20.00 uur. Kaarten zijn voor 5 euro te reserveren via de knop hieronder.

Artist Talk
Op 9 december vertelt Mariah Blue over haar kunstwerk en de betekenis ervan tijdens een publieke bijeenkomst. Er is ook ruimte om te experimenteren met het kunstwerk onder begeleiding van Mariah Blue. Deze artist talk start om 16.00 uur. Kaarten zijn gratis te reserveren via de knop hieronder.

Bezoeken
Van 6 tot 9 December is De Thomas geopend om het kunstwerk te bekijken. Je kunt ook zelf met het kunstwerk experimenteren onder begeleiding van de kunstenares.

Neon Songs is an interactive sound installation and performance by contemporary artist Mariah Blue, conceived as an experimental telecommunications network. Neon Songs is inspired by our ever-present screens and invisible architectures of fibre optic cable networks and other telecom infrastructures that span the globe and enable communications on our electronic devices.

Performances
Friday, December 8 th and Saturday, December 9 th Neon Songs will be activated through special, live performances in collaboration with artists Angelo Custódio, Amit Palgi, Maria Isolina Cozzani, Matteo Traverso and Jonny Mehrez. After the performance there is an opportunity to enjoy a drink and meet with the artist and performers. Tickets (5 euros) are available through the button below.

Artist Talk
On Saturday, December 9 th from 16:00-17:30, Mariah Blue will give an artist talk about NEON SONGS. After the talk, the audience will be invited to experiment and interact with the Neon Songs installation under guidance of the artist. Tickets (free) are available through the button below.
